30 day plan for assessing learning in the RHS online environment

Teachers of high-performing online classes, in other words, read the virtual room and collect feedback not just to gauge how well students understand the subject matter but also to identify any obstacles that may be preventing them from being able to fully participate.

Aug 24th - Back to School - share "About Me" video with students and parents using email

Aug 25th - Virtual Parent Teacher Meet and Greet (6:00-7:30pm)

Aug 24th - Advisory: Data Over Time: how students felt about online learning this semester -(You can use a Likert scale here, with a score of 1 being “not at all comfortable” and a 5 being “very comfortable.”)

Aug 28th - Advisory: Data Over Time: repeat poll on online learning comfort level, - follow up with write in section on problems, concerns (technology, access, WiFi, lessons, time to work, home environment)

Sept 4th - Advisory Two week survey:

Data Over Time: repeat poll 1-5 range on how students felt about online learning - follow up with problems, concernsHow comfortable do you feel using technology for our virtual classroom? (You can use a Likert scale here, with a score of 1 being “not at all comfortable” and a 5 being “very comfortable.”)Have you encountered any technical issues, such as not being able to connect to the internet or not being able to hear me or other students talking?Are assignments clear? Are you able to access them?Are you having any trouble finding assignments, links to articles, or other documents online? Is the virtual space well organized?Do you feel like your voice is heard?Do you feel like you belong in your virtual classroom?What can we do to improve your online classroom?

Sept 7-11th:

1. Teachers: email and connect with 1st, 3rd, 5th, 7th hour students with personal emails

2. Advisory: List best practices they have observed in other classes that made them feel connected to the classroom. Have the student identify what about that practice worked for the student. (collect and share with staff)

Sept 14th-18th:

1. Teachers: email and connect with 2nd, 4th, 6th hour with personal email

2. Advisory: what things keep you from being motivated, engaged while at home? What keeps you on track? (collect and share with staff)

Sept 18th - Advisory: Data Over Time: how students felt about online learning this semester -(You can use a Likert scale here, with a score of 1 being “not at all comfortable” and a 5 being “very comfortable.”)

Sept 21st - 25th:

Teachers: email and connect with the students in class who are not as communicative with you in your 1st, 3rd, 5th, 7th hour.

Teachers: Individual Class Survey

Make a list of specific technology specific apps students use in your class and range their level of comfort.Have them rate the comfort level with the teacher in the class. Ask them what helps them, how they stay motivated, etc.

Sept 28th-Oct 2nd:

Teachers: email and connect with the students in class who are not as communicative with you in your 2nd, 4th. 6th hour

Oct 2nd - Advisory Data Over Time: repeat poll 1-5 range on how students felt about online learning - follow up with problems, concerns
