MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPALS

We would like to take this opportunity to welcome you all to a new school year. It was a great first week with lots of positive energy from the whole MS community. The campus was buzzing with engaged students and teachers.

Our goal in the Middle School (MS) at RIS is to develop students who are creative, compassionate, problem solvers. We support students’ academic development, social-emotional needs, and global-mindedness, as well as draw connections between their world at school and the world at large. We understand that MS is a time of great change for our students both physically and emotionally and we do all we can to support students with understanding and thriving with those changes. For more information please see the MS section on our website.

Please contact us with any questions or concerns.

COUNSELOR'S CORNER

Hello RIS Parents! My name is Mr. Andy Krauthoefer and I am coming to you from the United States. This is my 14th year working in education. For the last six, I have been a middle school counselor. Additionally, I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and have provided private therapy to families and teens for the last three years. I love working with this age group. I embrace their passion for life, their awkwardness, and even their emotional rollercoasters. This is a time in their life of incredible growth and we need to be there for them to support them on their journey.

I am here for you! Being the parent of a teen is hard! Some days, you may feel that you don’t recognize your child and ask yourself what happened to them. This is NORMAL! Your child is not broken. I am here to listen and offer any perspective I have.

Start of the year jitters. The beginning of the year can be challenging. Our students are excited and nervous about new classes, new teachers, and new expectations. Additionally, they will start to build new peer relationships, and strengthen those from previous years. In the coming weeks, they will settle in and academic demands will increase. With that, may come more stress and anxiety. If you have any questions or need support with helping your child settle back into the school year, please reach out.
