I am excited to share with you an overview of the curriculum for the upcoming school year in 4th grade. This year, we will be focusing on five key areas to ensure a well-rounded education: Math, Language Arts, Science, Social Studies, and Islamic Studies. Let's dive into each of these subjects Bismillah:
Math
In Math, we will use the SAVAS Realize curriculum, covering a total of 16 Topics. Students will develop students mathematical understanding and problem-solving skills through a combination of teacher-led instruction, practice exercises, and engaging activities. We will also integrate real-world math applications in our Pick-A-Project, to help students connect mathematical concepts to their daily lives.

Language Arts
Our 4th-grade curriculum offers an engaging and comprehensive educational experience for your child, with a strong focus on developing writing skills within the context of the Wit and Wisdom modules. In Module 1, "A Great Heart," students will explore inspiring stories and engage in narrative writing, crafting their own tales of courage, empathy, and resilience. In Module 2, "Extreme Settings," students will be transported to extraordinary environments, and through informative writing, they will describe and analyze the unique characteristics of these settings. Lastly, in Module 3, "The Redcoats are Coming!," students will delve into the voices and events of the American Revolution, using argumentative writing to express their viewpoints and support their arguments. Through these modules, students will not only enhance their writing skills but also develop their critical thinking, creativity, and communication abilities.

Our 4th-grade science curriculum offers an exciting exploration of Earth science, shaping the Earth, energy, and waves. In Module 1, students learn about the Earth's structure, weathering, and natural resources. Module 2 focuses on geological forces like plate tectonics and landforms. Module 3 explores different forms of energy and their transformations, while Module 4 delves into the properties of waves. Through hands-on activities and scientific inquiry, students develop a deeper understanding of the natural world and enhance their critical thinking skills.

Social Studies
Social Studies is divided into three modules. In Module 1, students will learn about Civics, exploring the foundations of democracy, the branches of government, and their roles as responsible citizens. Module 2 will focus on Economics, introducing students to basic economic concepts such as supply and demand, entrepreneurship, and financial literacy. In Module 3, students will embark on a geographical journey, studying the five regions of the United States and their unique characteristics.

Islamic Studies
Our grade 4 Islamic Studies curriculum follows the KISA Kids: Steps to Perfection program, offering a comprehensive Islamic. Throughout the curriculum, students will explore fundamental beliefs (Aqā'id), moral values (Akhlāq), and significant events in Islamic history. They will learn about the lives of the prophets, including Prophet Ādam (ʿa) through Prophet ʿĪsā (ʿa), and gain a deeper understanding of their teachings. Through engaging activities and discussions, we strive to provide your child with a well-rounded Islamic education that nurtures their spiritual growth and understanding of their faith.
