ACADEMIC INTEGRITY, CITATION AND AI-GENERATED CONTENT POLICY

Any writing in this class that knowingly borrows or uses language from another text must be cited—anything less will constitute plagiarism and will be taken seriously. Please cite all sources and include a bibliography at the end of your reflections.

I expect that any text in your sketchnotes will be written in your own voice. Artificial Intelligence writing technologies (AI), like ChatGPT, can provide ideas for how to revise a sentence or word, review your writing for grammar and spelling errors, or as a thesaurus. Used in this way, GenAI technologies might support the development of your communication skills. I do not recommend that you use AI for your research, but if you do, I would use it as an aide for basic research. Please cite your use of AI. Note: AI should not be used to write your sketchnotes or to create your timelines, etc.

I will be available to give frequent feedback on your writing, and I am here to support you in your projects. Please talk to me before using AI tools, so I can give you feedback.

DIVERSITY AND CIVILITY STATEMENT

The diversity that students bring to this class is a resource and a benefit that enriches our class with different perspectives, strengths, ideas, and questions. It is my intent that students from all diverse backgrounds and perspectives be well-served by this course, and that students' learning needs be addressed both in and out of class. It is my intent to present materials and activities that are respectful of diversity: gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, age, socioeconomic status, ethnicity, race, culture, perspective, and other background characteristics. Our class is an inclusive and collaborative learning environment, and it is my intention that we co-create an environment of active inquiry and experimentation, where we can be brave, bold, and take risks. This means being willing to listen and consider your own boundaries, while being respectful of each others’ and giving one another the benefit of the doubt. Discussion and questions are welcomed and valued. Your suggestions about how to improve the value of inclusivity, equity and diversity in this course are encouraged and appreciated. Please also let me know if there are ways to improve the effectiveness of the course for you personally or for other students or student groups.

In the event that you feel uncomfortable with something that has happened in this class that breaks this sense of civility, we encourage you to:
