Further to the information from Mr Kendall in the email below, we can confirm both these events will be held as planned. RCCS would like new parents to attend at the school with their children at 5pm on Wednesday 29th June for about an hour or so, and then on the 30th the pupils will spend the day at the comprehensive. Please plan on having them arrive between 8.30 am and 8.45 am- there will be plenty of staff about to point them in the right direction. They will be dismissed at 2.55 pm. If coming by car, drop off and collection is behind the Leisure Centre. Pupils should wear their primary school uniform for the day and bring trainers for a planned PE activity.
Pupils can either bring pack lunches or get food from the canteen, either by using the fob they have already, or by paying by cash.
Mr Kendall and the team at RCCS are looking forward to seeing you all soon!
The academic year dates for RCCS have been set already and you can access an overview of the 2022/23 year here. Term will start for Y7 on Monday 5th September

Dear Parent/Carer,
Thank you for choosing Risca Community Comprehensive School for your child! We are looking forward to welcoming them in September 2022!
I am sending you this email to give you advance notice of two events in June. On the evening of Wednesday 29th at 5pm we would like to welcome you to school with your child. This will also be an opportunity for you to meet staff and look around the school as we were unable to hold the usual Open Evening in the autumn. These arrangements are subject to any Covid restrictions that may be in place at that time, but please make a note of the time and the date; we are very hopeful this will be able to take place. The second event is on Thursday 30th June when your child will be able to attend for the day to get a feel for the school. Primary schools are, of course, aware of both of these events and you will get more information nearer the time.
We are introducing the new curriculum for Wales in Y7 in 2022, so this is an exciting time to be joining RCCS. I am writing to you as early as March as we would be very interested to get your views on the new curriculum, and for those views then to play a part in our planning processes. We’d therefore ask you to complete this brief survey by the end of the month if possible. Many thanks in advance for doing this, it won’t take long at all.
Meanwhile do consider following us on Twitter or Facebook. Can I take this opportunity to wish your child all the best for their last term at Primary school.
With best wishes,
John Kendall
