Welcome to the Rio School District Summer program site! Find descriptions of each program on this page. Registration priority will be given to students who are English Learners, eligible for free or reduced price meals, experiencing homelessness, or foster youth. All Rio School District students are welcome to attend the program at no cost.

Grade Levels: K-8 Students (K students must have completed one year of school)
Create CAMP is a hands-on summer experience where students discover their creative voice through art, cooking, performance, farming, and cultural exploration. Each week sparks imagination while building real-world skills and confidence. Over the course of 5 weeks, students participate in both morning and afternoon immersive sessions.
Farm - Students get their hands in the soil at Rio Farm, learning where food comes from while exploring sustainable growing practices and the rhythms of nature.
Cooking - Students step into the kitchen and bring fresh ideas to life, learning culinary basics, food science, and the joy of creating something delicious from scratch.
Performing Arts - Students take the stage through theater, movement, and expression, building confidence and collaboration while finding their voice in front of an audience.
Art - Students explore visual arts, mixed media, and hands-on crafts while expressing their unique perspective and experimenting with color, texture, and form.
Las Raices - Students explore the richness of their cultural roots through storytelling, tradition, and creative expression, celebrating identity and the communities that shape who we are.

STEAM Camp is a hands-on summer experience where students discover, create, innovate, and grow through science, design, technology, art, building, and gardening. Each week sparks curiosity while building real-world skills and confidence. Over the course of 5 weeks, students participate in both morning and afternoon immersive sessions.
Discover Lab - Students become young scientists as they explore experiments, natural phenomena, and hands-on investigations.
Build It? Workshop - Students design and construct projects that teach engineering basics, strength, and creativity while learning how things are made.
Design Studio - Students think like designers—planning, sketching, testing, and improving their creations, with daily competitions.
Creative Expressions - Students explore visual arts, crafts, and mixed media while expressing ideas and emotions through creativity.
Tech Explorers - Students dive into the world of technology through coding basics, robotics, digital tools, and interactive projects.
Green Innovators - Students connect with nature by planting, gardening, and learning about sustainability and food systems at the Rio Farm. This week focuses on environmental responsibility, healthy living, and caring for our planet.

Think Together Extended Care is the perfect complement to your student's STEAM Camp experience. After a morning full of discovery, building, and creating, Think Together gives students a supportive space to unwind, keep learning, and stay engaged for the rest of the day. Over the course of the camp, students enjoy a relaxed but enriching afternoon experience that reinforces the skills and curiosity sparked in STEAM Camp.

Athletic Camp is a hands-on summer experience where students build strength, teamwork, and confidence through movement, sport, and physical expression. Each week challenges students to push themselves while developing real-world skills.
Dates: July 6th - July 31st
Time: 8:30 am - 12:30 pm & 12:30 pm - 5:30 pm

Grade Levels: K-8 Students (K students must have completed one year of school)
Think Together is a hands-on summer program where students stay engaged, supported, and inspired through academic enrichment, creative exploration, and healthy living. Each week builds confidence and curiosity while keeping students connected to learning over the summer months. Over the course of the summer, students participate in both morning and afternoon immersive sessions.
Academic Support - Students receive homework help and targeted instruction in English Language Arts and Math, building on their school year learning in a supportive, low-pressure environment.
STEM Exploration - Students dive into science, technology, engineering, and math through hands-on projects and activities that make learning feel like discovery.
Arts and Enrichment - Students express themselves through visual arts, music, drama, and dance, building creativity and confidence along the way.
