ABOUT THE TEACHER
While my hometown of Portland, Oregon will always be near and dear to my heart, I truly believe Ridgway is a gem of a community and couldn’t be happier living, teaching, and raising my family here. I’m married to Joshua Kinne and have two sons named Boaz (age 14) and Samuel (age 12), as well as two stepchildren who live and work in Ouray and Denver. When my kids were young, I took some time off from teaching full time to laugh, play, read, and snuggle with my boys during their early years. During that time, I worked part time as a Parent Educator with the Parents As Teachers program, a nonprofit affiliated with Bright Futures for Early Childhood and Families. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family, hiking, skiing, playing piano, reading, traveling, and cheering my kids on from the sideline of soccer games. I am thrilled to be in my 13th year of teaching at RES and always look forward to watching my students bloom and grow during their magical year of kindergarten!

PHILOSOPHY OF KINDERGARTEN As a Kindergarten Teacher at Ridgway Elementary School, I strive to help students grow in all areas of development, which include cognitive, language, motor (fine motor and gross motor), and social emotional. I integrate literacy, play, music, movement, games, and hands-on activities into learning throughout the day to keep students engaged. I plan lessons to help all children meet the Colorado Academic Content Standards, yet also strive to meet each student’s individual needs. My hope is that students who attend Ridgway Kindergarten will have a love of learning and an understanding of how to be a kind, respectful, responsible, and safe members of our school community.
