BCC Turning Point Program: The Turning Point Program is a two-year postsecondary experience for students 18 - 30 with special needs. Students participate in internships and career pathway credentialing courses in the following areas:

BCC College Course Success 101: A College Readiness Course
3 credit course helps students learn about college expectations, accomodations, and helps with organizational skills. Students who take this course experience Bergen Community College’s support team of tutors, counselors, librarians, learning communities, workshops, events, clubs, student organizations, and the OneStop. No prerequisites or SAT required
Bergen Community Center for Adult Transition
Provides services for individuals 18-24 with ID/DD and their families in the areas of education, training, and employment. Contact Teresa Serio tserio@bergen.edu/ They also provide a summer bootcamp for transition.
DVRS (Division of Vocational Rehabilitation Services) provides services for students and adults. Their mission is to enable individuals with disabilities to obtain employment consistent with their strengths, preferences, and abilities.

Pre-Employment Transitions Services: These services are available for students 14-21 who are determined eligible. These services include the following:
Job exploration counseling
Work-based learning experiences that may include in-school or after-school opportunities or experience outside the traditional school setting (including internships)
Counseling about opportunities for enrollment in comprehensive transition or postsecondary educational programs at institutions of higher education
Workplace readiness training to develop social skills and independent living skills
Instruction in self-advocacy and peer mentoring
DVRS Paid Internship Program
DVRS is currently offering paid internships, partnering with businesses and employment agencies. To qualify, students must have their own transportation and the ability to work without a job coach. The pay is 18$/hr, 10 hours per week (150 hours total). Please contact me if interested.

Bergen Project Search has programs for high school students 18-21 and adults.
It is a one-year employment preparation program that takes place entirely at the workplace
Classroom instruction, career exploration, and hands-on training through a series of targeted non-paid internships.
Students participate in their last year of school and graduate when finished. Project Search has an adult program as well.
