*Total number of hours GW 7th graders volunteered in 2023-2024
GW's 7th Grade Service Learning Project is provided to connect our students with the community and the world through acts of service. By participating, students bond with their classmates, discover new interests and abilities, learn to work collaboratively, take on leadership roles, and learn the value and benefits of helping others.
Each GWMS 7th Grader is required to fulfill ten hours of service learning throughout the year, though students often complete many more. Students may choose from one of the organizations listed on the website, or any other not-for-profit organization. You will receive a monthly Service Learning Newsletter with upcoming events and opportunities. Students are also encouraged to follow their interests and seek opportunities that are not listed. These may be opportunities presented through elementary school events, religious organizations, scouting, athletics, and personal connections. The best Service Learning opportunity is the one that students will do to long after their ten hours have been completed.
After participating in any service, students should complete the Google Form. Please be aware, these hours will not be visible in Skyward, so students should retain a copy of the completed Google Form for their records. Students must log their own hours from their school accounts.
From September to June, 7th grade students & parents will have receive a monthly Service Learning Newsletter to learn more about upcoming events and opportunities for service.
Students are encouraged to volunteer with one of the local organizations partnering with GWMS.
Students may also volunteer with other local organizations under the supervision of at least one adult.
Any student interested in creating their own service opportunity must obtain permission from one of the Assistant Principals.
All 7th graders must document at least 10 service hours before Monday, June 2, 2025.
7th graders may start as early as the summer coming into 7th grade
All hours must be logged using the provided Google Form on this site. (Please Note: students may log hours and/or half-hours only; but not minutes.)
Students must provide the name & email address of the adult who supervised their hours and who can verify the service hours were completed.
Student are strongly encouraged to log their hours immediately after completing a service opportunity so they don't forget.
