By emphasizing depth over breadth, the Illinois Learning Standards ensure that students have a comprehensive understanding of key concepts. Ridgeview schools have incorporated elements of the new learning standards into our curricula. The Illinois Learning Standards determine what educators should teach, not how they should teach. Teachers will continue to have the freedom to tailor lesson plans to the individual needs of their students. The higher standards and emphasis on applying knowledge to real-world situations will better prepare Illinois students for the challenges facing them after high school graduation.

The district has recently adopted the Illustrative Mathematics Curriculum. You can view the curriculum HERE

The IM K–5 curriculum provides teachers with coherently sequenced materials based on the standards and research-based learning trajectories to support students’ learning in these early years. IM K–5 Math is rigorous, problem-based, and fully aligned to the standards, with coherence across grade bands.

IM 6–8 Math focuses on supporting teachers in the use of research-based instructional routines to successfully facilitate student learning. IM 6-8 Math, authored by Illustrative Mathematics, is highly rated by EdReports for meeting all expectations across all three review gateways. EdReports is an independent nonprofit that reviews K–12 instructional materials.
