Mrs. Rachel Aupperle is a native to central Illinois: she grew up in Fairbury. Her undergraduate degree is from the University of Illinois Urbana- Champaign in Vocal Music Education. She received her Master's in Music Education from Illinois State University. Starting her career, she taught Kindergarten through 12th grade vocal and general music for four years in the Roanoke-Benson School District. While there, she also directed musicals, produced madrigal dinners and was a high school cheerleading coach. After that, she taught K-7 general music and Junior High Chorus at Fisher CUSD #1.
Mrs. Aupperle earned her Master's Degree in Music Education from Illinois State University. She has been at Ridgeview for 4 years teaching vocal and general music to students in grades kindergarten through twelfth grade. She has earned all three levels of Orff- Schulwerk Certification, which is music and movement pedagogy.
Mrs. Aupperle has presented at Illinois Music Educators conferences, and festivals, as well as at Illinois State Orff Levels Courses. Over the past six years, she has taught Orff Schulwerk movement certification courses at the Illinois State University, University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point, Samford University in Alabama, and Texas A & M - Kingsville.
Currently Mrs. Aupperle serves as the treasurer for the Heart of Illinois American Orff-Schuwerk chapter. This organization, run by local teachers, provides professional development for teachers through the process of Orff-Schulwerk.
Mrs. Aupperle and husband Matt, have one child, Kane who is currently in high school. She spends much of her free time enjoying the performing side of the arts through community theatre, church choir, dancing, and all things Irish!
Class overview
Students will be actively engaged in music making from the time they walk into the music classroom until they leave. We will be singing, saying, dancing, and playing.
