Your students will be graded in 3 areas this year; Effort Points, Reality Checks, and Assessments.
Effort Points:
Every day students are given 5 Effort Points.
The student will receive their full 5 points if the student is in class and participating, staying on task, and actively working on the lesson during class.
The student will receive 4 points if a student has to be reminded a couple times (2-3) to get back on task and to try working on the problems either individually or as a group.
The student will receive 3 points if the student is needing multiple or constant reminders to be on task and to try working on the problems either individually or as a group.
The student will receive 2 points if the student is needing to finish the work at home because they did not get the work that was needed to get done in class.
The student will receive 1 point if the student refuses to do any work in class.
The student will receive 0 points if they are removed from the class for disciplinary reasons.
I expect a lot of students to receive all 5 points everyday.
**If students are absent, they are expected to make up the work they missed. All work will be posted at the end of the school day on Google Classroom. Once the student emails me their work the student will receive the full 5 points.**
Reality Checks:
Reality Checks are various ways for me to see where the student is at in understanding. This could be in a form of an exit slip, quiz, or another method I see fit.
Reality Checks will take part multiple times throughout each Unit. As a teacher I use these to check the students understanding. Some will be completion grades and others will be scored.
Assessments:
Students will take a pre and post assessment for every unit.
Pre-Assessments are to see where the students are at before the class starts any unit. Points on the pre-assessment will be scored but recorded as Effort Points.
Post-assessments will be used to complete an unit. The test will be scored and recorded based on questions and points per question.
