Hello Ridgefield Families!

My name is Alex Varela, and I have the privilege of being an English Teacher and Multilingual Specialist at RHS. Here, you'll find some information about me, my classes, and what I'm doing to support our Multilingual Learners.

I grew up in San Diego, California, where my family settled after immigrating to the States from Jerez de Garcia Salinas in Zacatecas, Mexico. I spent my childhood working alongside my father and grandfather, picking, packing, and shipping citrus fruit as farm laborers. 

Today, I love to go camping with friends and family, cook delicious meals with my daughter, and go to concerts with my wife. This is my fourth year as a classroom teacher, in addition to the six years I've spent as a Multilingual Support Paraprofessional. I'm excited to continue to work with our Ridgefield families!
