Hello! My name is Kerry Savage. I am very proud to be a Ridgefield Spudder and a community member of this amazing town. Here is some information about me.
This is my 23rd year teaching high school science. I taught 15 years (2003-20018) at Evergreen High School in Vancouver, WA. I began teaching in Ridgefield in the fall of 2018. In years past I have taught astronomy, AP biology, biology, honors biology, chemistry, physics, and physical science. This year I get to specialize in ASB/Leadership, Biology, and Chemistry.Â
I grew up in West Linn, OR which has a community very similar to Ridgefield. Once I graduated from high school I continued my education at Washington State University (GO COUGS!) I graduated with a degree in Bachelors of Arts and Sciences: Biology Education focus, with a secondary endorsement in Chemistry. In my time at Washington State, I also participated as a student athlete playing volleyball earning 4 lettering years. I know what it is like balancing extracurricular and family based activities with school and try to be flexible within reason. I just ask students to come and talk to me before they need to leave early, arrive late, or miss school so I can help them as best as I can.
After graduating from WSU, I jumped right into teaching at Evergreen and then decided to earn a masters degree. My second year of teaching I began the journey of gaining a Masters in Education (MEd): Teacher Leadership from University of Portland and completed that journey in 2006.
My husband and I love the Ridgefield community and are excited to raise our two girls in this area; both are students at Union Ridge Elementary. My oldest (Maeve) is in 8th grade and my youngest (Brigid) is in 6th. When I am not teaching you can find me supporting the Spuds, cheering on the WSU Cougars, playing with my girls and our golden retriever, working out, cooking/baking, or playing/coaching volleyball.
