Welcome to Ms. House's site!
I am a new Washingtonian from Little Rock, Arkansas. I began teaching in 2010 and have taught a wide range of classes including English 9, Speech & Debate, Drama, Costume & Makeup, and Stagecraft. I have served as a speech coach, Thespians Troupe Director, gifted specialist (highly capable up here in WA), and K-12 Fine Arts Specialist for the Arkansas Department of Education. I have also taught graduate level courses on Universal Design for Learning, instructional technology, and online teaching, and served as an education manager for WSU.
I am a textile artist with a history in costuming and fashion. My most loved and unique artform is puppet design and construction. You can view a sample of my personal and educational puppetry portfolio below. I believe the massive power of the human imagination and in the ability for each person to grow within that space.
In my spare time, I love exploring this beautiful new part of the world. I love to hike, kayak, and pick random spots on Google Maps to drive toward with no agenda. My favorite hobby is participating in technical theatre, but do not ask me to perform!
Though I love the arts, I absolutely love my students more. You are why I am here, no matter who you are. You belong here.
Excited to be a SPUD (best mascot of all time)!
