Welcome to Class!

Art is all about communicating a message.  In our class, we focus on deciding what message we want to send so that we can select specific artmaking techniques to communicate that message to our viewers and audience. 

Your voice matters in all of RHS, and it is essential in your art class.  Ms. House and your fellow artmakers are excited to hear (and see) it.

These goals are the same for all class I teach.  However, the messages that you send and products you create in each class will differ.

Drawing & Painting are introductory classes to visual communication and essential artmaking skills.  In both of these classes, we work on crafting your message first and then developing the knowledge and techniques that strengthen your message.

Illustration is a step further in visual community that builds upon the skills you learn in Drawing & Painting.  Illustrators must decipher the core of someone else's message or the message that is most essential to a specific audience.  From there, illustrators use their existing skills and explore new techniques to communicate that specific message to that specific audience.

CTE Stagecraft is a survey course of all things theatre that are not acting: lights, sound, costumes, scenic design, props building, puppets, stage makeup, and more.  Stagecraft students learn safety first, then apply skills in construction, design, and creative thinking to specific projects supporting our RHS Theatre productions.  Advanced Stagecraft is a level up after successful completion of level one.  In Advanced, students claim higher stakes projects to design, plan and build themselves as they work toward leadership roles in the RHS Theatre program.
