School Health Offices
Each Ridgefield school has a health office staffed with at least one Registered Nurse during school hours. The nursing staff provides immediate care for students who experience illness or injury during their school day. School nurses address health needs of students with chronic health conditions through collaboration with parents/guardians, medical providers, and school staff; they are an integral component of the children’s health and safety. Please reach out to your school nurse with any questions or concerns you may have about your child’s health. We are here to help and ensure your child’s health while they are at school.

Welcome
Welcome to the Ridgefield Public Schools Health Services Webpage. Good health is fundamental to learning and development. At Ridgefield Public Schools, we prioritize the physical, social, mental, and emotional well-being of our students. By partnering with families, we strive to create a supportive environment that empowers children to reach their full potential. Our schools adhere to Connecticut State Department of Education guidelines and are committed to fostering healthy habits and lifestyles that will benefit our students for years to come.
The Health Services Department is composed of a Nursing Supervisor, 13 School Nurses servicing 11 schools, and a District Medical Advisor. The Nursing Supervisor collaborates with staff, administration, and families to create a supportive environment that fosters the physical, social, and emotional health of Ridgefield Public School students. The School Nurse is essential in promoting positive student development, ensuring safety, addressing health concerns, providing comprehensive care, and empowering students and families to thrive. (NASN, 2010). They ensure students meet health requirements for school attendance, manage health emergencies, oversee public health initiatives, and conduct screenings for vision, hearing, and posture. By empowering students and families, school nurses contribute to academic success and overall development. The District Medical Director provides medical and health information and advice on issues and matters pertaining to the Health Policies, Practices and Regulations of Ridgefield Public Schools.
