Rhode Island is building a future-ready workforce through expanded career programming, career and technical education (CTE), and real-world learning experiences—while emerging technologies like artificial intelligence are rapidly reshaping how we learn and work. This panel brings together leaders from industry, higher education, and government to explore how STEAM careers are evolving across key Rhode Island sectors such as life sciences, ocean technology, cybersecurity, and clean energy. Panelists will share how their work connects to real challenges facing our state and how innovation is driving new opportunities.
Designed for students, educators, and families, this conversation will highlight the skills that matter most for the future—adaptability, creativity, collaboration, and digital fluency—and what those look like in real careers. Panelists will reflect on their own career pathways, discuss the growing role of AI in their fields, and offer practical advice for students preparing for STEAM careers. The session will conclude with a student Q&A, providing a chance to ask questions and better understand how to take the next steps toward a future in STEAM right here in Rhode Island.
