The City of Richmond Heights received a grant through St. Louis County Department of Public Health for Electronics Recycling for St. Louis County residents. They partnered with Maplewood to provide multiple services at one event!
They have partnered with Spectrum E-cycle to assist St. Louis County residents in properly disposing their e-waste.
Spectrum E-cycle accepts any electronic device that plugs in or uses a battery in any condition; working or non-working; new or old.
The list is too extensive to list everything they take, but it includes all home electronics and home appliances and all office and industrial automation equipment. They accept rechargeable batteries, ink/toner cartridges, wires, chargers, VHS tapes, DVDs, and any other items relating to electronic equipment. They can even recycle your metal cabinets and other metal components.
The only items that cost money to recycle are:
$10 Any flat screen TV or monitor
$30 Any Tube TV, big screen TV, console TV, or rear projection TV
Thanks to the grant, up to two (2) TV/Monitors for St. Louis County residents per vehicle! For non-St. Louis County residents or for more than the allotted free items, payment is accepted via cash, check, or credit card.

Items NOT accepted:
- light bulbs/tubes
- alkaline batteries
- mercury thermostats
- any device with a radioactive symbol
- any device that contains biohazard material
- any device containing explosive material.
Gas or oil powered devices MUST have the liquid removed.
