Fifth Grade 2025-2026
ELA and Social Studies
My hope is that students will find a love for reading, writing and social studies while having fun along their journey. They will learn to read for comprehension, apply comprehension strategies, write meaningful essays and so much more! Students will also explore the beginning of the United States during our Social Studies classes together! Students will leave my class feeling confident in their reading, writing and grammar skills while also knowing where it all began in America.
About me
Welcome to Fifth Grade! I am thrilled to be back in 5th grade for my 4th year in a row. I took a few years off with my son while he was young. Now that he has entered school age, I am grateful that I was able to work my way back into the classroom. I look forward to another wonderful 2024-2025 school year.
I've always enjoyed kids and truly have a passion for teaching. I graduated from the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education. To further my education, I attended the University of Phoenix Online. By April of 2008, I earned my Master of Arts Degree in Early Childhood Education.
My teaching career began with 1st grade at St. Andrew School. It was a terrific experience that led me to a future of teaching different grade levels here at Richland Elementary School. When I began at Richland, I taught 4th grade for about 9 years. Then, I took some time off to raise my son. At the start of his preschool year, I decided it would be a great time to begin teaching again. Luckily in 2020-2021, I had the amazing opportunity to teach 5th grade as a long term sub. During this time, I was able to learn a lot about technology and enjoyed being back in the classroom. In 2021-2022, I had the joyous experience teaching my own Kindergarten class! Now, I'm an ELA and Social Studies teacher for 5th grade.
To me, teaching is exciting, rewarding and challenging. Children are the most important part of the education system and I plan on doing my best to make sure that your child achieves to the best of his/her ability. With open communication and cooperation, this year will be a success.
