Reading: 

The Reading Firefly Test will be administered Monday and Tuesday. 

Students will be preparing for the PSSA test. We will be using our Coach book and PSSA sampler texts with examples of both fiction and nonfiction texts. They will use textual analysis and RACES to respond to text dependent analysis prompts. 

*7 AR points due by Mar. 20, 2026. 

Language Arts: 

Students will write a five paragraph persuasive essay trying to convince their families to eat at their favorite restaurant. They will begin the prewriting stage by completing a graphic organizer and then transition to writing their rough drafts. Multiple resources for this writing project are in our Google Classroom. A rubric will be used to assess their published essays. This assignment is worth forty points. 

We are beginning our unit on figurative language at the end of the week. Our focus will be on similes and metaphors. 

Spelling:

Students will take a pretest on Unit 3-3 list words Monday. The pattern for the list words this week is the soft c and g sounds. The spelling words will be sorted by their soft c or g sounds and used in context throughout the week. There is a Blooket in Google Classroom for independent preparation for the test. The test will be administered Friday, Mar. 13.  Your child's test may then be reviewed in his/her email account accessed by using his/her username@richlandrams.net.
