Thursday: Unit 3-5 Test

Reading: 

Students will be preparing for the PSSA test. We will be using our Coach book and PSSA sampler texts with examples of both fiction and nonfiction texts. They will use textual analysis and RACES to respond to text dependent analysis prompts. 

*10 AR points due by May 26, 2026. 

Language Arts: 

We are continuing our unit on figurative language. Students will identify and write using each type of figurative language: similes, metaphors, alliteration, idioms, onomatopoeia, hyperbole, and personification. 

Our grammar focus is on verbs and on these specific skills: progressive verb tenses and modal auxiliaries 

Spelling:

Students took a pretest on Unit 3-5 list words last Wednesday. The pattern for these list words is compound words . The spelling words will be sorted by their syllables and used in context throughout this week. There is a Blooket in Google Classroom for independent preparation for the test. The test will be administered Thursday, Apr. 2.  Your child's test may then be reviewed in his/her email account accessed by using his/her username@richlandrams.net.
