A Message From Your Student Body President

Hi there, everyone! My name is Makayla Ball, and I’m honored to serve as Student Body President for the 2020-2021 school year.

As a Senior at Spring Valley, I can confidently attribute my best high school experiences to Student Council. There is no other club or organization on campus that brings every member of the Viking Family-- faculty, staff, students, families, administration-- together quite like StuCo does. From Morning Greetings in the carpool line on Game Days, to colorful assemblies and pep rallies every month, StuCo ensures that every Viking is spirited and celebrated.

I began my leadership journey with Student Council my Freshman year as Class President. I’ve grown leaps and bounds since then, and it has everything to do with my involvement in the school community. Student Council is a diverse group of students, each with their own talents, all coming together for a common cause. Even if StuCo isn’t for you, I encourage every student to get involved! Student Activities hosts numerous other clubs, organizations, and societies. No matter your interests, there is a space for everyone to find their niche. There are countless life lessons and skills that can be taken away from being dedicated to something you’re passionate about. By allowing you to utilize your strengths, and sustaining your weaknesses, being a well rounded student truly prepares you for life after high school.

With the ongoing public health crisis, we’re all struggling to adjust to the new “normal.” Though a lot has changed, Spring Valley’s “Tradition of Excellence” still reigns. It may be harder than ever before to stay connected, but we must remain resilient and prepared for the day we can all come back together safely. It is so important to speak up, reach out, and rely on the people and resources around you. #StrongerTogether

Pandemic or not, classroom or virtual, I look forward to this year and seeing what beautiful things emerge from such a confusing time. We as Vikings are built for situations like these. If anyone can handle it, I know we can! Don’t allow our circumstances to stop you from reaching your goals and becoming your best self.
