Richland School District Two allows eligible student drivers the privilege of parking on those high school campuses that they are enrolled in so that they may engage in instructional time and extracurricular activities. Please carefully review the following eligibility requirements and parking regulations. Submission of the online application serves as receipt that both student drivers and their parents have reviewed this information and understand all requirements.
Eligibility:
Confirm through fees office that all current year Westwood fees/debts are paid or on an active payment plan
Seniors must have CCR status achieved or on an active plan
Pay parking fee of $25 at the fees office- before school, during lunch, or after school
Complete Alive @25 scnsc.org (upload to electronic application; if you completed Alive @25 the previous year, please upload that certificate. You are not required to complete Alive @25 annually)
Read carefully, complete, and sign the Parking Agreement - electronically (linked at the bottom of the screen)
Present driver license and receipt for paid parking ($25) to Ms. Truss in room 612.
Alive@25 exceptions: Students who transfer to WHS from out of the district who have not had a chance to complete the course (those students must complete the course within the first 2 weeks of starting at WHS). Those students may be issued a temporary parking permit upon presentation of proof that they have registered for the Alive@25 scnsc.org.
Parking tags:
Are not to be used by any other student or non registered vehicle
Temporary parking is available for $5 per day. See Ms. Dinkins in the Fee's Office before the first block begins. A student may have no more than five temporary parking days in the school year.
Current WHS parking tag must hang from the rearview mirror or be displayed on the driver's side with the number facing the front, readable from the outside.
Lost or stolen tags must be reported and a new tag purchased. Replacement tags may be purchased for $25
Parking Regulations:
The presence of unregistered or uninsured vehicles on campus poses a potential safety hazard to our students, our employees and our guests. The schedule of parking fines is as follows:
WHS parking hang tag not displayed $25.00
Parked in wrong space $25.00
Failure to obey traffic signs $25.00
Parked on red curb $100.00
Illegal use of a handicapped space $200.00
Campus speed limit is 15 mph or less
Speeding on school property and reckless driving (such as driving across parking spaces or around/over barricade devices or any potentially dangerous action) will result in a $50 fine. The second offense will result in the loss of parking privileges.
Sound systems must be turned off while vehicle is on campus
Upon arrival at school, students must immediately park, lock, and move to the building area. Students may not loiter in vehicles or parking lots at any time
Seniors (or second semester students with off-campus privileges) leaving campus at lunch MUST be wearing their valid ID. Temporary IDs do NOT qualify for off-campus privileges.
A student may not drive a vehicle on campus that is not properly registered to him/her or his/her parents or legal guardians.
Students may not drive/park on campus during the school day without registering with the Student Activities Director/Administrator in charge of parking.
Non-registered vehicles may be booted, ticketed, and/or towed without notice.
Students who have purchased a parking pass may NOT allow another student to use their parking tag. Failure to do so will result in the loss of your parking tag and privileges.
Students are not to be in vehicles or the parking lot during the school day without permission. Students should not loiter in/at cars upon arrival on campus or following dismissal. A student who uses/allows the vehicle to be used in violation of school rules is subject to the loss of the driving/parking privilege. Students leaving without permission during school hours may be denied parking privileges for the remainder of the school year or the next full semester.
Students with parking privileges who take underclassmen off campus at lunch may be denied permission to leave campus, and parking privileges will be suspended. No refunds will be issued to any student who loses his/her parking privileges for any reason.
Students who drive to/park on school property are responsible for knowing all rules and guidelines printed here, in the Parking Regulations and on all parking related forms.
Restricted parking areas:
Students are not allowed to park at the stadium, rear lot behind the cafeteria (bus loop), academic wing parking lot, and front zone of student parking
Any adjacent property to Westwood campus is not permitted for parking and will be subject to towing at the vehicle owner’s expense
Students are not allowed to park in any reserved, visitor, or handicap spaces in the front or teacher lot, nor are they allowed to park along the curb
Per Federal Law, individuals are not allowed to park in a handicap spot unless the person for whom the handicapped permit is issued is present in the vehicle. (see administration or Ms. Truss in 612 for handicap parking)
Parking privileges may be suspended or lost for reasons including, but not limited to:
Speeding or reckless driving (speed limit on campus is 15 mph, or less)
Transporting students who do not have off-campus privileges during the school day
Three or more parking offenses (tickets)
Allowing someone else to use your parking tag.
Failure to report damage to another vehicle (Hit & Run). Students are required to contact the School Resource Officer (SRO) immediately if an accident has occurred
Committing an offense that results in an “Out of School” suspension
Smoking or vaping n vehicles
Loitering in or around vehicles or parking lots at any time
Loud or offensive music
Littering in the parking lot
Violation of other school rules, which might not be listed above, at discretion of school Administration
Notes
Paid parking fees are not refundable
Westwood High School is not responsible for any theft of vehicle or contents therein
Westwood High School is not responsible for any damage to the vehicle or contents therein
Student drivers are subject to any action assessed by the Richland County Sheriff’s Department and/or any other law enforcement agency with jurisdiction.
Students with repeated offenses are subject to a loss of driving privileges.
No refunds will be issued to any student who loses his/her parking privileges for any reason.
