Redhawks,

2020-2021 will be the year of Resilience and Reinvention to ignite and fuel the fire within. This year's trek will be unlike any we've experienced before. Our students are on the front lines of a global pandemic while learning to deal with the challenges of equity and access as our country's moral fabric is being stretched to capacity. This will provide an incredible landscape for learning and skill development.

At Westwood High School, we believe that our students are destined for greatness and will emerge as this generation's leaders, scholars, philanthropists, artists, and award winners. We are a school with pride, determination, and resilience. We are a school of character solidified by many incredible graduating classes that have established a Tradition of Excellence. As Redhawks, we are keen-eyed, instinctive, observant, and resourceful. We respect one another, value each other, and care about our peers and colleagues. Our work ethic is second to none.

Collectively, our purpose is to be the top producer of successful scholars in the nation. Our mission is to work in partnership with our parents and community to engage and motivate students to develop 21st century skills, while developing responsible citizens who are prepared for future success. With the support of our partners, WHS students will go on to be change agents, problem solvers, and innovators who will leave an indelible impact on societies present and future.

Poet D.H. Lawrence famously penned this piece; "I never saw a wild thing sorry for itself. A "Redhawk" will drop frozen dead from a bough without ever having felt sorry for itself." Our resilience and reinvention will always burn the fire within. Visit our castle in the wood and help us maximize the gifts and talents of our students so they become the leaders of tomorrow.

Rise as One!
