Make-up Work
Teachers will permit students to make up work missed during an absence as long as the student makes appropriate arrangements with the teacher no later than the student's fifth day back at school. The student is expected to complete the work within 10 days after his/her return to school.
Late Work
Late work is work that is not submitted by the due date. Late work will be accepted up to three days after the due date. Any assignment not submitted by the due date will have 15% of points deducted from the grade the student would have received if the assignment was turned in on time.
Tutoring
We have dedicated tutoring time built into our schedule during Independent Learning Time (ILT).
Students have the opportunity to retake tests. Students need to complete a Reteach/Retest form. Students may only retest on the same test content once. Teachers, parents, and students must sign a contract documenting that at least two interventions are completed and the grade is acknowledged. Students have up to 2 weeks once the test grade is posted in PowerSchool to complete the interventions and the test. The retest grade will be the best of the two scores. Teachers may retest students during their scheduled tutoring time. Students may only retake the same test once. If a student cheats on a test, they are ineligible to participate in the reteach retest process. The infraction will be handled in accordance with the school discipline policy.
Plagiarism and Academic Honesty
All assignments are to be completed independently unless otherwise specified by the teacher. Any collaboration without the teacher’s prior consent will be considered academic dishonesty (cheating). The assignment will not be graded and disciplinary actions, according to the disciplinary matrix, will apply. Plagiarism is the intentional or unintentional use of someone else’s words or ideas as your own. You must quote and cite or paraphrase and cite someone else’s work used in your paper to avoid plagiarism. Any paper found to contain plagiarized parts will not be graded, and the student will receive a discipline referral. If a peer shares work or contributes to the plagiarism of another student's paper, the same consequences will apply to the other student(s). Sharing of information for tests, quizzes, homework, etc. also results in a non-grade on the assignment and/or discipline notice for both students. This includes the use of artificial intelligence.
Content Recovery
Content recovery is defined as a course-specific, skill-based learning opportunity for students who are still enrolled in the course with the original teacher of record assigned by the school. Content recovery allows students to retake a subset of the course including a single unit, more than one unit, or supplemental assignments/activities assigned and approved by a certified instructor as needed for student mastery of course content.
Procedures
All students are eligible to participate in content recovery.
Only major assignments may be recovered in Content Recovery. Each major assignment can be recovered one time.
Content recovery must be completed within 2 weeks of the first grade being recorded in the teacher’s grade book/PowerSchool.
The student and parent must complete the district-approved form for content being recovered with the teacher.
The highest grade will be recorded in the grade book/PowerSchool.
Grades
Upon satisfactory completion of all content recovery assignments within the time allowed, the certified teacher will include the recovered work using the highest grade into the final grade to arrive at the new grade for the course based on the district’s policy.
Cost
There will be no cost for content recovery.
