Welcome

My name is Stephen Cross and I am looking forward to teaching your child. This will be my third year teaching at Spring Valley. I am originally from New York and a graduate from the University of Connecticut, but over the years I have spent and equal amount of time living in both the North (New York/Connecticut) and the South (Georgia/South Carolina). I did receive my Master's Degree from USC, but as stated before, I'm a UCONN Husky before being a gamecock, so if you're a Clemson fan, know that I'm neutral in your ongoing battle. This is a self-contained Mild Intellectual Disabilities program that focuses on increasing your child’s awareness of and skills in relation to what is required to live as independently as possible in his or her post-secondary life.

Your child will be receiving instruction in the areas of mathematics, reading, writing, English, transition skills, and social/life skills. Your child will be a part of Spring Valley’s recycling team, learning laundry skills for team uniforms, and learning basic skills in operating a cookie business by baking, packaging and selling cookies.
