Mrs. Van Tiem is a native of Detroit, Michigan, Earning her Bachelors in Music Education from Wayne State University, located in Detroit Michigan. During her time in Michigan, she worked as Percussion Head for Walled Lake Western High School, Lakeview High School, helping in leading the band to 5th Place at State Championships in Flight 3 Division. Then Mrs. Van Tiem moved to Shelbyville, Kentucky where she became Director of Bands at Shelby County High School. Here she taught a highly competitive Marching Band, Concert Bands, Winter Guard, Indoor Percussion ensemble and Pep Bands. She lead the Shelby County High School Bands to several Superior Ratings at Concert Assessments, and in 2008 was a BOA Grand National's Semi Finalist. Both her Indoor percussion Ensembles and Winter guard were top contenders in the Tri-state Competitions, earning First Place in Socialistic Open Class in 2008, 2009. In 2015, Mrs. Van Tiem moved with her, Husband Brian to South Carolina and began her teaching career as a percussion instructor at Westwood High School, helping to prepare the bands and percussion for Concert Assessment, Marching Competitions, Concerts performances and Day of Percussion, of which the students have received superior and excellent ratings at. In 2019, Mrs. Van Tiem became Director of Bands at Westwood High School and brings a Passion for teaching music that she hopes becomes infectious throughout the school! Mrs. Van Tiem lives in Blythewood, South Carolina with her husband Brian Van Tiem. Her hobbies include reading a good mystery novel or anything to do with Mysteries or Criminal Psycology, I am SUPER Harry Potter Fan and watch the movies every October and loving on her Bloodhounds Brisket and Ribeye.
