Course Description:

Support Lab is designed to meet the goals and objectives of the student’s IEP, continue to strengthen basic skills in reading, writing and mathematics, and provide necessary support in completing academic work. Students will be assisted with curriculum needs for their regular classes and will always be encouraged to seek tutoring. Please note that I am also your child’s IEP case manager and am responsible for all IEP-related paperwork. Please feel free to contact me at any time with any concerns that you may have.

While in Support Lab students will be working with an on-line program Imagine Learning which consist of reading and math lessons. Support Lab is NOT tutoring or study hall.


Goals/Objectives: Students will master 80% all South Carolina standards in their core classes and exhibit proficiency by;

Knowledge/Remembering (define, list, recognize)

Comprehension/Understanding (characterize, describe, explain, identify, locate, and recognize)

Application/Applying: (choose, demonstrate, implement, and perform)

Analysis/Analyzing: (analyze, categorize, compare, and differentiate;

Evaluation/Evaluating: (assess, critique, evaluate, rank, and rate)

Synthesis/Creating: (construct, design, formulate, organize, and synthesize)

Learning Expectations:

· Students will analyze, interpret, evaluate and think logically to solve problems using a variety of resources and strategies

· Students will communicate effectively to a variety of audiences

· Students will create work using a variety of communication forms


Instructional Materials:


Software: Imagine Learning Online Intervention Program and Google Classroom


Materials Required: Students are expected to come to class each day prepared to work. All students must have lined paper and pencils and/or pens daily.

Mr. Fletcher may be able to supply students with additional resources when needed.

Grading Procedures: Progress Monitoring (weekly), Bell ringers (daily)

Imagine Learning Unit Assignments (weekly) and Current Events Articles (weekly)

Students will be graded weekly on their work ethic (respect/attitude, responsibility, productivity and organization), and in-class projects, in class assignments and activities.


Homework Policy: Homework is not typically assigned as a part of this Academic Support class. However, students are expected to complete all work that is assigned in class.


Late Assignments Policy: Link It is understood that some students may require additional time to complete assignments. Students are asked to speak to the teacher on an individual basis.


Make-up Policy: link

Students can make up work when absent.


Tutoring Schedule:

Student must schedule with teacher.


Exam Exemption:

No final given


Student Responsibilities and Expectations:

· Be in assigned seat at beginning of class.

· Have ALL materials with you when you are seated.

· Use class time wisely.

· Behave in an appropriate and respectful manner.

· Remain seated until you are dismissed.

· Follow all rules as stated in the discipline policy

Scope and Sequence:

Student’s goals will be completed and accomplished in according to the student’s IEP.


Discipline: All Westwood High School rules will be followed and enforced in the classroom. Students in all classes will be held to Academic Integrity Policy of Richland District 2.


Accountability: Each student in the classroom will be held accountable for his/her own behavior and for his/her grade. While in class, each student is expected to complete all work and turn it in on time. Students are responsible for bringing their own materials to class.

Attendance Policy:

“Students are allowed 10 absences in any yearlong course and five (5) absences in any semester course. These totals INCLUDE all absences documented with excuses. Any student exceeding the allotted totals.
