Dr. Susan Baumann has an undergraduate degree in Social Studies Education (1978) and graduate degrees in Reading (1983) M.Ed., Curriculum and Instruction (1989) Ed.D. She has taught at Richland Northeast since 1981 and served as the Social Studies Department Director 2002-2013. Dr. Baumann has been awarded fellowships to study abroad: Fulbright Summer Seminar in Egypt (American University in Cairo), Japan Institute for Social and Economic Affairs (Japan), Atlantic Canada Institute (University of Maine), Ottawa and Montreal Institute (Duke University). She has also participated in a National Endowment for the Humanities Institute on Islam (Princeton University) and a National Geographic Teacher Institute (Washington, DC). Dr. Baumann traveled to Kirov, Russia in 1995 and 1997 to adopt her two sons. Her daughter was in the Horizon and PCA magnet programs and graduated from Richland Northeast in 2018 with an IB Diploma.
