A unique feature of the Honors Forum is that we allow students to create their own program of study tailored to their own specific areas of interest. Therefore, while we have rigorous requirements, each student is allowed the freedom to create their own path to completing these requirements.
5 Advanced Placement or Dual Enrollment courses
4 Honors courses
Honors Forum Senior Project
Maintenance of 3.75 Weighted (SC UGP) GPA
Earning a minimum final grade of a "C" in every course
Completing the minimum number of required service and cultural hours each year (varies by grade level)
1. If a student fails to maintain a 4.0 Weighted (SC UGP) GPA or earns lower than a “C” in any course during any semester, he or she will be placed on academic probation for the remainder of his or her career at BHS. A second instance of a drop in GPA, earning lower than a “C,” or any combination of the two, will result in removal from the program.
2. Any student who fails, or earns an "F," for the final grade of any course will automatically be removed from the program.
Students enrolled in the Honors Forum are expected to complete at least the minimum requirements. An Honors Forum diploma will be awarded in one of three categories at the end of their senior year based on each students completion of the following criteria*:
Cum Laude: 4 Honors Courses, 5 AP Courses, Senior Project, AP Seminar, 4.0 Weighted (SC UGP) GPA
Magna Cum Laude: 4 Honors Courses, 6 AP Courses, Senior Project, AP Seminar, 4.5 Weighted (SC UGP) GPA
Summa Cum Laude: 4 Honors Courses, 7 AP Courses, Senior Project, AP Seminar, 5.0 Weighted (SC UGP) GPA**
*Students are encouraged to pursue coursework that is reflective of their interests, yet meets the expectations of the Honors Forum.
**Note: Starting in the 25-26 school year, AP Seminar will no longer be required to graduate from Honors Forum.
