If your child enjoys designing and creating, the Tinker Lab is for them! At this after school program, we will learn about the Engineering and Design Process in a very HANDS ON WAY!
Students will set up their own Tinker Lab, have a workspace, design opportunities, and adult guidance to create things from their own ideas. We reuse recyclable materials for building, and donated items for artistic creation.
Tinker Lab is open to students in grades 2-4. Tinker Lab is EVERY Tuesday and Thursday (students will be assigned to Tuesday or Thursday Group) after school until 5:15. Mrs. Shawna Land (fourth grade teacher) will supervise and instruct in the Tinker Lab. Former Tinkers, entering 5th grade, will apply to serve as mentors. If numbers are too great for the space we have, we may have to limit participants to teacher recommendation.
While this is Enrichment Tutoring, every student can participate. We all have different gifts. It is my hope that this Lab inspires future designers and creators of all types!
If you are interested, please fill out an application, available from Mrs. Land. You will be notified when your information is complete and your child is cleared to stay after school.
The videos below are required viewing before being allowed to use glue guns and cardboard cutters. We will watch them as a group, but it never hurts to see it more than once!
