Originally from Hanoi, Vietnam, I moved to Houston in 2022 to pursue my Ph.D. degree in Political Science at Rice University. I study International Relations, particularly foreign policy and great power competition.
My dissertation broadly explores the use of foreign policy tools by the United States and China and how third-party countries respond to the intensifying rivalry, with a regional focus on Southeast Asia. The dissertation explores when and how smaller countries can maximize their agency in dealing with great powers.
Before coming to Rice, I studied at Toyo University (Tokyo, Japan).
I have lived in Vietnam, Japan, and the United States. I enjoy traveling and taking photos of the places I've been to, some of which you can find below. When time (and finance) permits, I would love to visit all continents in the future. In my free time, I like reading (my genre is mystery/thriller), cooking, and hiking with my tripawd dog Neko!
