Robert (Bob) Dittmar is the Houston Endowment Professor of Finance at Rice Business at Rice University and the Associate Dean for Undergraduate Programs, Virani School of Business. Prior to joining Rice in 2022, Professor Dittmar taught at the Ross School of Business, University of Michigan from 2003-2022 and the Kelley School of Business, Indiana University from 1999-2003. He received his Ph.D. from the Kenan-Flagler School of Business, University of North Carolina in 2000.
Professor Dittmar's research focuses on issues in asset pricing, with emphases on the pricing of fixed income securities, understanding cross-sectional variation in expected equity returns, and the information in option prices for equity securities. Recent work examines the risk of default implicit in the prices of U.S. Treasury securities and the impact of intratemporal substitution of consumption goods on equity returns.
