Houston Policy Challenge (HPC)
The Houston Policy Challenge (HPC) is a Learn Level program that enables Rice students to learn about and respond to a policy issue facing Houston leaders and residents. HPC introduces students from a variety of backgrounds and perspectives to civic leadership through an engaged, community-focused approach to advocacy and public policy. Under the guidance of student leaders, Learn Level participants work together in teams, learn about the policy issue through independent research and interaction with campus and community experts, and present creative, community-focused policy solutions to a panel of city and community leaders.
The 2020-21 policy challenge is ENVIRONMENTAL JUSTICE in the greater Houston area.
HPC is a team-based opportunity open to Rice undergraduates of all years and majors. Students may register as teams or sign up as individuals and be placed on teams with help from program coordinators.
