Dear River Islands Academies Community,

As we wrap up an outstanding Fall season, I want to express my gratitude to our students, staff, and families for your hard work, dedication, and the unwavering support you provide every day. Your efforts are the foundation of our success.

This time of year is significant as it reflects the various holidays, observances, and cultural traditions that shape and strengthen the diversity within our community.  We know that our celebrations at school will be well attended from our trimester award assemblies to our performances and basketball games and so much more! Be sure to check your classroom and school calendar dates to make sure that you do not miss out on anything.

With the winter months ahead we want to encourage handwashing (not the splash and dash but thorough handwashing) as a precautionary measure in avoiding the spread of germs. Our attendance rates are very high and we appreciate your diligence in supporting your students being at school and being on time. As you know a  great deal of learning takes place every day. Please make sure that those jackets are labeled and that your students check for lost items in the office.

We are fortunate to enjoy your children every day. Thank you for your trust in us.

As we look forward to the new year, I encourage everyone to celebrate safely and responsibly as we look forward to what 2026 holds. With that in mind you might want to take some time during the month to discuss goals and dreams for the next year with your children. It is always interesting to listen to young people.

When we return in 2026 I know that we will all  come back refreshed, renewed, and ready to finish the 2nd half of the school year with a positive spirit and renewed energy truly living the character traits in our C.O.M.P.A.S.S. program. (Character, Ownership, Motivated, Problem Solver, Appreciation, Self-Respect, and Spirit). I hope this holiday season brings you precious moments with loved ones, joy in traditions, and time to do what brings you peace and happiness.

Respectfully,

Brenda L. Scholl
