How do I apply to the STEAM Choice program?

Does it matter if I did not attend the STEAM program at Saluda Trail?

8th grade applicants who apply for admission into South Pointe's STEAM program who did not attend Saluda Trail Middle or current 9th grade applicants who are transferring from a different high school should download, complete and upload the appropriate STEAM worksheet while submitting this application. Failure to submit the worksheet will void this application.

When can I start taking courses in a STEAM pathway?

Students begin taking courses in the pathways during their 9th and 10th grade years. Most pathways consist of 4 classes to become a completer. Students should discuss their goals with their guidance counselor so that they can plan.

Students have the opportunity to take the first course in more than one pathway but are encouraged to commit to one pathway by the end of 10th grade so they have a better chance of completing a pathway and gaining the chance for certifications or college credits.

Who are the guidance counselors?

South Pointe has several guidance counselors and students are assigned to one counselor to support them through the school course selection process.
