Classroom Routines

How do we enter and leave the Art classroom?

Quiet in the hall. Quiet walking to your tables. Quiet while waiting for class to begin.

Leaving class you will be called by table to line up. You will stand quietly in line and exit the classroom quietly.

How do we behave once we have taken our seats?

While seated you will remain quiet and work on your bellwork. If there is no bellwork you will sit in your seat and remain quiet.

Bellwork will be posted on the Cleartouch board. Paper will be on your table along with pencils to complete the assignment. During this time (5-10 minutes) Mrs. McCallister will be prepping for your project time and class instruction.

What do we do when Mrs. McCallister is talking?

We face Mrs. McCallister when she is speaking. We make eye contact with Mrs. McCallister to make sure she knows we are listening.

How do we work on our projects?

Working quietly means you are focusing and doing your best work.

You will be given permission to work together and have table discussions but talking to students outside of your table during project time will not be allowed. There will be opportunity for class discussion at an appropriate time.

Taking care of our materials

For each project we will use certain materials that help us learn new processes. We have to use proper techniques so that we will continue to have these resources for other projects.

How do we clean up our workspace?

Clean up Procedures

Each Table will be responsible for making sure the table, chairs and floor are clean before the teacher returns.

Each person at the table will be responsible for this cleanup.

All work will be placed on your classes drying rack shelf or designated place by Mrs. McCallister.

All materials will be neatly put back where they were at the beginning of class.

Students will take turns at the sinks. Only one person at each sink at a time.

During project time, students can raise their hands and ask permission to go to the sink. If Mrs. McCallister sees people misusing the sink or not cleaning up appropriately she will discontinue use of the sinks.

Class Dojo points will be taken away for inability to keep art room clean and wasting materials.
