Calling all Book Fair Volunteers! We need you 3/13-3/17! If you are available Monday or Tuesday, please sign up there first! We need at least 3 people all day both days! Grandparents are welcome!
We are excited to bring back the annual Leary Read-a-Thon! This Leary PTO literacy program starts TODAY and is designed to help our students become better readers while having fun! Our Snuggle Up and Read Day today was our kickoff. For the next 5 weeks, our school will put the spotlight on reading and will be offering special activities and events organized around literacy.
Children will be asked to make reading a priority every day, and we're asking for families to become cheerleaders and mentors at home to encourage reading and to join in this school- wide effort!
All participants who log their reading minutes in the Google Form provided will be rewarded with a book at the completion of the program. The link to the Google Form to record minutes will be located in your child's Google Classroom. At each grade level, a trophy and a $40 Scholastic gift certificate will be awarded to the classroom with the most minutes read. These trophies will be displayed in the winning classrooms until the next Read-a-Thon. The student with the overall most read minutes for the entire school will also receive a reward.
Please note that ALL after-school reading, including reading done as part of class homework, may be counted toward your logged minutes. While reading with your child is encouraged and wonderful to do, your child may also read independently and log those minutes.
To help make this program as successful as possible, we are asking you, as parents and reading partners, to read through these documents to become familiar with this year's program. There is no paperwork to return this year, we will know that your child is participating when he/she logs his/her minutes in the Google form for his/her grade level. Please see the calendar for specific dates.
Thank you for your ongoing support of our students and our school.
