In order to be successful, it is recommended that you practice at minimum:
30 Minutes Per Day, at least 5 Days Per Week (outside of band rehearsals)
If you are unable to practice at home, see Mrs. Rolland about the possibility of practicing during the school week at Burger.
Set yourself up for success!
Plan Determine how much time you can commit to practice (30 minutes for 5 days a week – minimum).
Decide when you will practice and make it part of your daily routine.
Focus Find a quiet place, free of distractions so that you can get the most out of your practice time.
Set goals You can only achieve goals if you know what they are!
Practice “chunks” of music Puzzle pieces – don’t always start at the beginning and try to make it to the end. Start with the hard parts.
Practice slowly.
Repeat, repeat, repeat… 3 times perfect, 4 times perfect, etc… this will help you remember how it goes the next time you practice.
Practice with a metronome Once you can play a passage correctly, consider practicing it with a metronome. Start slow, then make the metronome click faster and faster on each repetition – challenge yourself!
