WHAT WILL AN ACP PLAN LOOK LIKE FOR A JWMS STUDENT?
Students in the School District of Rhinelander will use Xello, an internet based career exploration planning tool to learn more about themselves and develop their plan. The students will create an e-portfolio that holds their self assessment results, personal interests, custom lessons, life experiences, career choices, and goals. Students may access this tool from school or home from the JWMS website as a Quick Link under the Student tab.
Lessons will be provided from Homeroom teachers and School Counselors on a monthly basis beginning in 6th grade but students are encouraged to review and modify their plan at any time. A student’s goals and plans may change several times as they gain knowledge and experiences through middle and high school years. It is all about exploring opportunities that are compatible with a student’s vision for their future.

Hosted by the CWIMA (Central Wisconsin Manufacturing Alliance), students in 8th grade have the opportunity to tour manufacturing companies within our community, as well as work with Nicolet College. Students are given the opportunity to tour two manufacturing facilities where they learn more about the different careers that our area has to offer. All of the students that participate are given a Heavy Metal shirt and safety glasses.
Xello allows student to explore careers, track important resume and college application building information from middle school and beyond. Students can use Xello to build career pathways including high school classes and experiences.
Inspire Wisconsin allows students to experience a career interest through businesses and individuals in the community. Through job shadowing, career coaching, career interviews, etc, students can see how their classroom experiences transfer to the world of work.
8th Grade Hodag Conference
All 8th grade students will meet with Ms. Allen during January and February to discuss a 4-year plan for high school. Families will be invited to join to discuss course options for high school.
