Let's communicate using Talking Points
My name is Marissa Foti. I am the secondary English as a New Language teacher at Bulkeley Middle School & Rhinebeck High School in New York's beautiful Hudson Valley.
I am passionate about language-learning, linguistics, travel, intercultural exchange, the humanities, and adventure!
This site is designed as a hub to connect, inspire, and to share information and resources to globalize teaching and learning within the Rhinebeck learning community and beyond!
The knowledge and resources collected here share the wealth of insights attained from my participation in the Fulbright Teachers for Global Classrooms 20-21 cohort program.

In this compelling short documentary, watch as teenagers from North Philly connect with teenage peers in Kazakhstan, Japan, France, and Nigeria in their classrooms using digital tools like Skype, Zoom, and other forms of social media. Watch them discuss critical global issues and connect over music, soccer, girlfriends, and everyday life. This film is an inspiring reminder that being a teen is being a teen anywhere. We are more connected and more alike than separate.
It’s an exchange of possibilities.
In her acclaimed TED talk, Chiminanda Adichie reminds us that our lives, our cultures, are composed of many overlapping stories. She tells the story of how she found her authentic cultural voice -- and warns that if we hear only a single story about another person or country, we risk a critical misunderstanding.
An ode to cultural awareness, reflection, and responsiveness.
