The Gawad Alab Awarding Ceremony is on April 08, 2025!
Gawad Alab is a biannual competition that aims to invigorate the Philippine Contemporary Arts and Literature by developing a new breed of student-artists and writers that boldly articulate and freely interpret the Filipino experience, and the Lasallian core values with fresh insight and artistic integrity.
As part of the Academy of Saint John’s commitment to inculcate in the learner an immense love for country and pride for his/her cultural heritage and to equip him/her with valuable knowledge and indispensable skills, the Lasallian Rheims calls on the Junior and Senior High school students of Academy of Saint John to express their emotions, feelings, ideas, and innovative thoughts through filmmaking, photography, digital artwork, song composition, and literary writing that reflect the current societal milieu, Filipino core values, and Lasallian Attributes. This year, Gawad Alab is set to broaden the opportunities for the students. The Lasallian Rheims aims to help and support the foundation of student artist advancement and recognition.
This event is administered by The Lasallian Rheims and sponsored by the Academy of Saint John - La Salle Green Hills Supervised.
The theme of this year’s event, Broadening Horizons, entails the story of broadening the opportunities and avenue for student-artists around the Academy of Saint John. Founded on its central tenet, “Saysay at Salaysay” (Worth and Words), this event opens an opportunity for students of Academy of Saint John, ASJ alumni, and ASJ faculty & staff to express themselves through literary and artistic skills and, at the same time, share with the public the various facets of Contemporary Philippine Arts and Literature.
