Our fifth graders recently completed Esperanza Rising—a beautiful novel that connects literature, culture, and food. Each chapter features a new fruit or vegetable, and thanks to the incredible generosity of our families and community, our students were able to experience each one firsthand! 🍇🥑🌽🍑
We’d like to give heartfelt thanks to everyone who helped bring this story to life:
💚 Leann Fruit Market – for donating fresh avocados for our “Avocados” chapter.
💛 Delia’s in Soddy Daisy – for providing guavas for every student and donating chips and salsa for our Fiesta celebration!
🍑 Ashley Norling – for donating delicious peaches for our “Peaches” chapter.
🌮 El Toro Mexican Restaurant – for your continued generosity in donating food for our end-of-book Fiesta each year!
🍦 The Ice Cream Shop (owned by the brother of El Toro’s owner) – for gifting each student a coupon for a free scoop of ice cream!
🥑 One amazing FES family (Peyton & Brittany) – for making homemade guacamole that everyone absolutely loved!
🍬 Candice and Marbra from our local Family Dollar – for purchasing candy out of your own pockets to surprise and delight our students. Your kindness did not go unnoticed!
Your generosity turned our novel study into a memorable, hands-on experience full of learning, culture, and community spirit. 💕 Thank you for helping our students not only read Esperanza’s journey but truly feel it.
