Academic Resources
Scroll down to see the academic resources available to your student throughout the year. These are voluntary services and require the student to sign up on the after school list and attend.
On-Team Resources
Extra help is available during advisory, lunch, or during intervention lab (8th period). Students needing help after school are encouraged to ask at least one day in advance to assure the teacher is available.
Students are sometimes asked to come during lunch to make up homework assignments or get extra help. These sessions can be very helpful, but students need to then take the initiative to sign out of lunch to attend.
Students may also be assigned lunch detentions due to several missing homeworks or classroom behavior. These are not voluntary and students are expected to attend. Students who skip lunch detentions are then referred to the office for further disciplinary consequences. It is made very clear to students whether it is a request to come for lunch help or a required lunch detention.
Off-Team Resources
Math Lab - Tuesdays - 2:20-3:30
Math Lab is a great place to work on nightly math homework under the supervision of a RHAM Middle School math teacher. Students can ask questions and clarify any concepts needed. When math homework is completed, students are welcome to continue working on other nightly assignments.
Writing Lab - Wednesdays - 2:20-3:30
Writing lab is useful for more than just English assignments. Students can attend writing lab to work on homework for any subject that requires a written response: English homework, social studies essays, science lab reports, anything! Students who attend are expected to share their work with the writing lab teacher so that advice can be offered and work monitored. A great place if you need a little more supervision to complete your work.
Open Study in the Library - Monday -Thursday - 2:10 until 3:00
Students are welcome to sign into the library any day after school for a quiet place to work. At 3:00 the library supervisor leaves and the room becomes the late bus meeting room. Students who are staying after to work can then stay under the supervision of the late bus monitor until as late as 3:45.
Reminders:
Late Bus runs Monday-Thursday. Pick up is typically around 4 p.m. for each town.
ALL students who are staying after for any reason need to sign up on the after school list, regardless of whether they will be picked up or are taking late bus. This list functions as the after school attendance and record of what students are still in the building after school hours.
KHAN Academy
Students can sign up to access math support, English support and more. This can also be linked to their PSAT/College Board account to track specific skills as they move grade to grade.
