Artificial intelligence has been around for years and has been known as traditional artificial intelligence. In traditional AI, a system makes decisions and predications based on data that has been inputted into the system. An example of this is a person playing chess against a computer. The computer will predict your moves based on previous moves. Other examples of traditional AI include voice assistants such as Apple Siri or Amazon Alexa. With these systems, you can ask a computer to perform various tasks such as turning on a light, asking the score of a recent sports game, or even sending a text message.

The newest type of artificial intelligence is generative artificial intelligence. In generative AI, the system creates new information such as text, images, music, and more based on other data and patterns that it is trained on. Generative AI is often considered to be the next big advancement in artificial intelligence because of its ability to write articles, create prototypes, create computer code, and more in a matter of seconds.

In the future, both traditional and generative AI will work together to analyze large data sets and create personalized content based on this data. As our society starts to embrace this new technology, we will see progress in many industries such as business, healthcare, education, and more. A real example of AI being used in Connecticut is Hartford HealthCare's Center for AI. In this new center, they will use AI to optimize scheduling, predict hospital length of stay, predict outcomes from various types of surgeries, and more.
