INKXASO: Ndiyabaxhasa abanye nabo bayandixhasa. Siyancedana ukuze sikhule, sifikelele kwiinjongo zethu.
ONDERSTEUN: Ek ondersteun ander en hulle ondersteun my. Ons help mekaar om te groei en ons doelwitte saam te bereik.
SUPPORT: I support others and they support me. We help one another to grow and reach our goals together.
As we focus on developing a growth mindset this year, understanding the value of SUPPORT is helpful to put into practice. We also know that children learn values through observation and guidance from the people around them.
Children need role models of supportive behaviour. They learn how to demonstrate empathy and kindness by how we treat each other. We need to show them good examples of volunteering, helping and participating in community events that enhance positive interactions.
They learn to foster open communication, especially as they are learning how to identify and express their emotions and talk about their experiences. Reflecting on the diverse world we live in, they need guidance and support on how to respectfully create a sense of belonging for themselves and others. They learn from us the impact of contributing positively to a community through our interactions and supportive behaviour.
Let us always be mindful of the eyes that watch us constantly. Our Rustybugs depend on us to show them what support looks like. And where we get things wrong, as humans do, let them see the growth that comes from admitting our mistakes and learning from them. They need us to be real, not perfect!

On Friday, 22nd August and Saturday, 23rd August, Belinda Petersen, Khalipha Mgobozi, and Reyanah Manuel attended the EduPulse Women in Leadership Conference.
"We had the privilege of attending the EduPulse Women in Leadership Conference, which was an inspiring space filled with thought-provoking discussions, practical strategies, and powerful stories that celebrated the role of women in shaping the future of education. It broadened our thinking on ensuring our girls are truly future-ready, and highlighted the importance of collaborating with leaders and professionals from corporate and industry spaces beyond the school environment. We left feeling encouraged, equipped, and excited to bring fresh ideas back into our school community." Khalipha Mgobozi
"Attending the Edupulse Women in Leadership Conference was an inspiring and uplifting experience. It was powerful to see women coming together to share best practices, offer advice and discuss the way forward for education in the corporate world. What stood out to me most was the focus on teaching with purpose and the importance of supporting one another in this industry. The conference created a space of trust, understanding, and genuine connection – a true sisterhood of support. I left feeling encouraged, motivated and reminded of the impact we can make when we collaborate and uplift each other. It was not only about professional growth but also about personal empowerment and collective strength."

As part of our Staff Wellness, we are focusing on healthy eating. Last week’s Lunch and Learn was a delicious success, thanks to the amazing Mrs. Villet! She showed our staff how to turn one simple ingredient—a whole chicken—into five quick, healthy, and easy meals for the week. Each recipe was packed with flavour, included all essential food groups, and best of all, was designed to save time and reduce waste. From hearty salads to pastas and wraps, every dish was a hit!
More than just a demo, this session was an inspiring reminder of how simple it can be to make healthier choices for ourselves and our families. Huge thanks to Mrs. Villet for the practical tips, creative ideas, and seriously tasty food!
On Saturday 23rd August, Elize Cottrell, Roxanne Greeff, Phumza Jali, Nicolette De Klerk, Miskah Norton, Jodie Samuels and Gill Gildenhuys attended the ASD workshop at Sunlands Primary.
The valuable workshop, presented by the WCED Learning Support Advisors, focused on supporting learners with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
We’re very grateful for this opportunity, which gave us both insight and practical strategies to better support neurodiverse learners in our classrooms. The session helped deepen our understanding and will guide us in creating more inclusive and supportive learning environments for all our learners.
Yesterday our Admin Staff were treated to a delicious lunch to acknowledge and thank them all for everything they do for RGJS.
Thank you to all our Rustybugs for their cards of appreciation to the Admin Team.

The Uniform Committee also encouraged all our Rustybugs to wear their hats when outside. Spring is around the corner, and soon the weather will be warmer. Hats must be worn!
This week, our Admin Staff focused on our value for Term 3, SUPPORT. Lending a hand, supporting and helping others has an incredible effect on oneself. The message reminded our Rustybugs that, when we all support each other and show kindness, the impact on others is amazing. The bonus factor is that you feel amazing as well!
Get the popcorn ready, Beautiful Beasts on the big screen is here!
Thank you to David Fish for recording this wonderful production.
This week, our Grade R girls set off on an exciting outing to Imhoff Farm! The classes were abuzz with chatter and anticipation, and soon we were on our way, ready for a day full of farmyard fun.
From feeding the animals to overcoming a few brave little fears, the girls had a chance to experience farm life up close. There were giggles, wide eyes, and plenty of fun shared by all, including the teachers.
The highlight was watching our classroom learning come alive in the most wonderful way. The girls loved meeting the farm animals, asking questions, and discovering more about how they live and grow. Hands-on learning at its best!
And as if the animals weren’t enough, the girls got creative too, making the sweetest little bunnies from socks to take home as a special memory of the day.
It was truly a joyful and successful outing, filled with laughter, learning, and many lasting memories. What a treat to see our learning jump off the classroom walls and into real life!
On the afternoon of 22 August 2025, the second round of the Interschool General Knowledge Quiz was held at Edgemead Primary School. Our girls competed with 23 other schools in 13 rounds of rigorous General Knowledge questions. The categories included questions about Food, Art, Formula One racing, Geography, the South African Flag, Movie trivia and Greek Mythology, as well as two rapid-fire rounds.
Our girls performed well under pressure to successfully make it through to compete in the final round of the quiz, along with eight other schools.
Well done, GK Team!

The grade 3 girls recently embarked on an educational journey to raise awareness about pollution. Their project involved designing and assembling informative posters, which later served as visual aids for their English oral presentations. The girls worked diligently, diving deep into various types of pollution—air, water, land, and noise. They gathered materials, turning their thoughts into vibrant, eye-catching posters.
The classroom buzzed with excitement as they prepared their posters and orals.
The oral presentations provided a platform for them to explain the significance of their chosen pollution topic. In the end, the project was not just about posters but also about fostering a sense of responsibility towards the environment. Their hard work and creativity truly shone through, making this project a resounding success! So proud of their efforts.
Well done, Grade 3s!
Last Friday brought excitement galore,
Our Grade 2s discovered and explored!
With beakers and jugs, both big and small,
They measured capacity, learning it all.
Coloured water was poured with care,
Sand was scooped here and there.
Then came the popcorn, popping away,
Making maths fun in every way!
Through laughter and learning side by side,
Volume and capacity came alive with pride!

BARN DANCE 2025 - SAVE THE DATE
OUTREACH
The theme for Casual Day 2025 is Beyond the Label: Embracing Unity Through Inclusion and Diversity.
"A person with a disability is often identified by the disability and, if applicable, any visible assistive devices. Society tends to see the disability and assistive devices first, then labels the person accordingly. As a result, the person is often defined by their disability rather than recognised and valued.
With this theme, we are calling on the public to truly see, appreciate, acknowledge, and respect persons with disabilities as complete human beings—equal to all human beings and entitled to the same human rights and freedoms. This is a call to move beyond labels and perceptions that reduce a person to their disability. Beyond the label = beyond the disability."
Learners and staff can purchase stickers for R 20 each via KARRI. The stickers will be handed out on Friday and learners are encouraged to ...
"wear what makes you feel like the boldest, bravest version of yourself—because when you step out in confidence, you help create a world where others feel seen, included, and celebrated.
Please ensure that the civvies clothing is suitable to continue with the academic school programme throughout the day.
