Welcome to all our new and returning families! The start of this year has probably been the most calm in all my years of teaching! I would like to extend my deep gratitude to our amazing RGJS staff who worked tirelessly at the end of 2023 and in the days leading up to the first day of the term. They have put an incredible amount of effort into ensuring a good, positive start to the year. As is expected, there are always hiccups and curveballs but there has been great support and creative troubleshooting!
This year is an extra special one as we celebrate 130 years of academic and holistic excellence. We are excited to enjoy the wonderful celebrations planned to mark this significant milestone and look forward to seeing our RGJS families and staff celebrating with us.
At our formal assembly yesterday, I shared three important things for us all to remember as we navigate the possibilities, opportunities and challenges that this year will bring us. Firstly, encourage and support each other. Secondly, listen to other ideas and perspectives and ask questions if you don't know or understand something. Lastly, what each person brings helps to create a great school. We are all important and bring something special and unique that should be celebrated.
May 2024 truly be a year when we celebrate memories and shape futures!

BAXTER PARKING DISCS
Please note that the 2024 Baxter Parking Discs are only for new parents. The Baxter Parking Area is directly opposite our school in Burg Road. A gentle reminder that the disc allows you to park, walk your daughter into school, and then leave. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
The parking bays directly in front of our school are a demarcated "Stop, Drop and Go" zone from 06:30 - 08:00. Please ensure that our Rustybugs have all their bags ready to exit the car to keep the traffic flowing. Thank you to the parents who have already indicated they are keen to help - a roster will be shared soon.
Unfortunately "remote jamming" has happened around our school in the past. Please check that your car is locked before walking away from your vehicle.
SCHOOL UNIFORM
We are hoping to hold a SWAP SHOP on Tuesday and Wednesday in the foyer from 17:00 - 18:15. If you have any items in good condition that you would like to donate, please send them to school for the attention of Pam Heiberg.
If you have any items that are not in good condition, but would also like to donate, please mark them separately stating DONATIONS. All of these items are sent to a rural school in Barrydale, where they are repaired and given to the school children.
For any queries, please contact Pam Heiberg - pamhei@rgjs.org.za
Please remind your daughter to pack in her hat for break times and outdoor activities including sports, especially during this warmer weather. Sunhats are compulsory and must be worn outdoors at all times.
Please access Bugs Boutique through Grosvenor Road, the road adjacent to RGHS. Please use the small pedestrian gate on Grosvenor Road.
