Hydrogen generation through H2S splitting is an emerging technique and is gaining utmost importance nowadays. It has opened up a new direction in converting waste to energy. The poisonous H2S compound which is hazardous to the environment can be now be utilized for the benefit of mankind.
This process could immensely benefit the petroleum industry by treating hydrogen sulphide gas and converting it to hydrogen, a more valuable product compared to elemental sulfur. This cycle can potentially replace the Claus and SMR processes while reducing the industrial demand for methane.
In our group we largely interested to develop high performance low cost environment friendly catalysts which can facilitate the splitting of H2S in to H2 (Hydrogen) and S (Sulphur).
