In 5th grade Advanced Math, the students explore middle school math concepts and standards. The students took a sixth grade readiness assessment at the beginning of the year to identify which fifth grade standards needed to be retaught before starting middle school content.Â
The students take notes daily, explain their reaosning, and model how to solve problems to their peers. Each daily lesson includes direct instruction, note taking, guided practice, small group practice, whole group review, and formative assessments. The students in this class will take the Grade 6 Math Ohio State Test in May 2024.
