Retaaza is a Georgia-based social enterprise working to make local food easier to get and more affordable. We support Georgia’s farmers, help people reconnect with where their food comes from, and work to keep our communities healthy and fed.
We believe that community-driven ideas can make a real difference—for families, farmers, local businesses, and the environment.
Our programs, like Retaaza Rx and our partnership with MARTA, connect Georgia farmers directly with communities that don’t have easy access to fresh, healthy, and affordable food. At our MARTA Markets, we set up pop-up produce stands at six busy MARTA train stations around Atlanta. These markets bring locally grown fruits and veggies, along with heart-healthy pantry staples, to places where grocery options are limited. We welcome all shoppers and offer multiple ways to pay—including SNAP—and provide a 50% discount on fresh produce for SNAP users.
By shortening the path from farm to table, we’re helping to fight hunger, cut down on food waste, and support Georgia farmers. At Retaaza, we believe all farmers should be paid fairly, no good food should go to waste, and everyone in Georgia should be able to afford a healthy meal.
MARTA is Atlanta’s main public transportation system, providing bus and train services to millions of riders each year. It plays a big role in helping people get where they need to go and is focused on making life better through better transportation and community programs.
One of those programs is a partnership with Retaaza to bring fresh, affordable food to MARTA riders through the MARTA Markets. These pop-up markets are set up at six stations—West End, H.E. Holmes, Bankhead, College Park, Kensington, and Doraville—and offer Georgia-grown produce and healthy pantry staples right where people are already traveling.
The markets help tackle food insecurity, support local farmers, and cut down on food waste. They’re open to everyone and accept several forms of payment, including SNAP/EBT—with a 50% discount on fresh produce for SNAP shoppers.
This partnership is one way MARTA is investing in the health, well-being, and economic opportunity of communities across Atlanta.
